Sekania - A Beach For Sea Turtles

The documentary "Sekania: A beach for the sea turtle caretta caretta" takes us on a journey to Sekania, a beach only 550 meters long that for almost 30 years has become a symbol for the protection of wildlife in Greece.

Sekania is the beach with the highest density of loggerhead turtle nests in the world, as in the last 30 years or so this small strip of coast has hosted more than 1,500,000 eggs. The area has been designated as a zone of absolute protection since 1999 with the establishment of the Zakynthos National Marine Park.

The documentary presents the story of Sekania, one of the greatest conservation victories in the Mediterranean, which ensured the protection of one of the most important "maternity wards" of the loggerhead turtle in the region.

The documentary was presented on the occasion of World Oceans Day by WWF and CNN in Greece.
